Community Integrated Development Initiatives-CIDI has had fairly stable operations during the year 2021. That has been irrespective of the tough times experienced due to the outbreak of
Covid19 in the previous year. This year, CIDI kicked off another leg of five strategic years rolling out the new plan that runs from 2021-2025. CIDI’s has remained envisioned to having
“Communities enjoying a decent life free of hunger, poverty and disease”. Therefore, throughout the year 2021, all CIDI programmes have been pursued aimed at improving the
economic and social welfare of communities. We have been able to reach out to our rural and urban poor communities, as well as refugees and internally displaced persons. Those has
been deliberately targeted. Ultimately, CIDI has in 2021 been successful in undertaking the following interventions. UGOPAP-Sustainable Return and Development Programme (SIDP). In Soroti District, CIDI
continued to implement the SIDP project. The project is rolling out in five sub counties of Arapai, Asuret, Gweri, Katine and Tubur in Soroti district. The project is being undertaken under the consortium program of Uganda Governance and Poverty Alleviation Program-UGOPAP that is funded by Caritas Danmark and DANIDA. Over 2,100 farmers are supported through their cooperative organizations. They are supported to spearhead organized farm production, access to extensions services and government programs, agro value additions and marketing of their produce. They are doing advocacy work, demanding for effective delivery of services in their localities.
