PELUM www.pelumuganda.org

PELUM stands for Participatory Ecological Land Use management. It is a network of over 220 civil society organizations in 10 countries in East, Central and Southern Africa working in the area of ecological land use management. CIDI relates with PELUM in the areas of market information, where CIDI aims at promoting small holder farmers to access current market information that enable them market their produce and propel their respective businesses into viable ventures. In this network, CIDI is a member on two committees; advocacy and market access committees. In sharing information with PELUM members, CIDI helps farmers to acquire skills of sustainable agriculture, value addition and collective marketing.

Uganda Water and Sanitation NGO Network (UWASNET) is the national umbrella organisation for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the Water and Environment sector.CIDI is the regional coordinator of NGOs and CBOs in  the central region of Uganda. http://www.uwasnet.org/Elgg/groups/profile/608/central-uwasnet-region

AMFIU www.amfiu.org.ug

Is an umbrella organisation/ Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU). It harmonizes the activities of Micro finance Institutions and provides guidance on the do’s and don’ts in this field. CIDI has been running a MFI in Teso and Kampala regions where it has acquired good experiences. Under the CIDI WaterCredit scheme for urban dwellers, CIDI benefited from AMFIU guidance when it came to their affordability to timely servicing loans extended to them. There has been a lot of sharing of information comprised of challenges and possible mitigation measures. AMFIU has also contributed to capacity building of CIDI when it comes to operationalization of Micro-credit finance. CIDI has twice been nominated by AMFIU and CITI Bank for the prestigious award of 2011 and 2012 CITI Micro entrepreneurship Awards.

UGOPAP http://www.capcauganda.org/

 This is a network of 10 organizations including CIDI that have been working together to implement poverty alleviation programs targeting subsistence farmers in Uganda. They operate in the central and eastern districts of Uganda under one programme with similar objectives and aspirations to increase food security and incomes for the rural poor farmers. At the same time working to build the capacity of these framers to plan and manage their development though groups or association formation marketing and income generation. This program is code named “The Uganda Governance and Poverty alleviation Programme “UGOPAP”

CIDI was very central in the formation of this network which started in 2004 as a small project for only three members. Since then UGOPAP has expanded and enrolled other members totaling 17 CSOs. They have come together to form the “Uganda Farmers Common Voice platform” which is the advocacy arm for the network. Throughout this expansion CIDI has remained at the forefront and is currently the chair of the Common Voice platform. Besides CIDI is regional coordinator for the Eastern partners.

Voices for Health Rights (VHR) is a coalition of 14 civil society organizations working in health and health rights related activities initiated in 2006 as a united front to advocate for good health policies and implementation of best practices. VHR’s goal is “to bring together Civil Society Organizations for the promotion of the right to health in Uganda”. The coalition’s vision is a society whose health policies and practices reflect the Rights Based Approach. CIDI is a member of the VHR and in coalition CIDI is spearheading the Child-health Committee.

In her own programs, CIDI runs a Healthy policy advocacy program whose major aim is to empower targeted communities to demand for qualitative service from government and other service providers. CIDI has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health to support the Ministry’s community health programs.

 

NGO forum Uganda  http://ngoforum.or.ug/

The Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF) is an independent and inclusive national platform for NGOs in Uganda. Its primary constituency and owners are NGOs in their diversity and configurations. UNNGOF is however open to other interest groups within a broadly defined civil society.
